ARTIST BIO

Jia Jeon (Ji Hyun Jeon) is a Korean artist started her career in NYC. She was born in 1997 and studied in NY during 2017-2020, graduated School of Visual Arts. Jia explores many different subjects of art, but mostly her works have a soft sculpture. The theme of her work is her dreams and childhood. Some segment of the work shows reality with the use of playful, colorful figures. In her work, viewers can find a little cruelty.

 

Her personal traumas and sadness are reflected in her works. Memories are reconstructed in different forms but still contain her suffering. By making art, she is trying to find her own way of healing wounds.

Jia Jeon’s installation is so immersive that people can easily think that they are in a different world. By making this illusion, she fits into her created world with the hope that it becomes a place where other people also can feel like they escaped. We can hold this experience and kept it forever as a safe place.
